I'd like to introduce myself, my name is Cara Anderson and I became President and CEO of Six Minute Dates Inc. in October 2007. After many years of searching for “my passion”, I met Christine Hart (founder of SMD) at a lecture where she was the emcee. We got to talking and I found her career path so fascinating, I decided to try out a speed dating event. One serendipitous meeting, one night of speed-dating, many conversations later, and I bought the business.
Matchmaking always came naturally to me as I have been a catalyst for many of my friends’ love lives. Currently four sets of my friends are married with children partly due to my matchmaking skills.
I am dedicated to helping singles meet in an enjoyable and sophisticated manner. I can’t think of a better way to spend my days than helping people find love and friendship in their lives!

What are some Killer Dating Do's & Don't's?
Killer Dating Do& Don’ts by Jennifer Cox – Author of Around the World in 80 Dates
1. Men are extremely competitive
When you date 80 men, their #1 priority is to be better than the 79 others. If you date more than one man, your experience may not be like mine - one crazy long champagne-yacht-a-thon - but you will find men try harder when they think there's competition.
2. Avoid Date Fatigue
Steer clear of dinner dates: it takes a moment not a meal to know if you like someone (and if you don't, hours of forced conversation quickly results in Date Fatigue). Do something you enjoy instead, like seeing a band or scrambling up a climbing wall … that way there's plenty to talk about, and if they're not The One you'll still have fun.
3. Best Conversation Opener
'You're not like all the others…' Travelling around the world dating 80 men was a natural conversation opener. Generally speaking though, it's good to start by asking your Date about himself: it's flattering and confidence building for the man. Try and keep it light though: no talk of exes or illness (you want to be his girlfriend not his Mother).
4. What's your Dating Motto?
Mine was 'It's not about sex, it's about romance' (casual sex is the emotional kebab of the relationship world: easy to get after the pubs shut, leaves you feeling rubbish for the next three days). Without sounding too much like a scary Dating Evangelical, mottos help keep you mission focused: mine reminded me I was after someone I was emotionally as well as physically compatible with.
5. Take a Look in the Mirror
Like what you see? Good, then you're in the right mood for dating. As The Love Professor taught me, the person you pick reflects the way you feel about yourself: feel good and you'll get a guy who values and treats you well. Date on a Bad Hair Day, and you're likely to pick someone miserable, who shares your low opinion of you and the world in general. Be nice to yourself before pouring that effort into another person.
6. If being in a relationship takes work, then it pays to advertise.
Take time to think about what you want from a partner: is good conversation more important than a good body; healthy head of hair more important than a healthy bank account …? Once you've imagined your perfect man, write a Soul Mate Job Description and stick it on your fridge. Like your Dating Motto, it should keep you mission focused and stop you pouring too much energy into Mr. Wrong (remember Chester in Vegas: practicing positive visualization increases your chances of winning).
7. Be Positive
It took a world of people to make me realize what total nonsense it is to believe (with apologies to Nat King Cole) that 'When I fail in love, it will be forever'. Don't give up, and don't settle for less than Mr. Right.
