We broke up and he won't tell me why Hi, I was just recently dating a guy for about five months and things were going really well. He did all sorts of nice things for me, things where he was really going out of his way but then suddenly he ended things with no real reason. I asked him to please be honest whatever the reason may be. He said he still likes me and is attracted to me but just can't be in a relationship. The weird thing is I've had a few guys tell me this, so I'm wondering what this actually means...

It looks like a pattern may be developing here so you are wise to look into why and make some changes. You were together for 5 months - how was your level of communication? How close were you? Was it determined that you were in a relationship or was it extended dating? Men and women view relationship development timelines differently - women often think they are in a relationship after 3 weeks of dating but men may think they are still casually dating 5 months later. He may have become scared when he felt the fun dating you were doing was headed into an actual relationship so he called it quits. You are good to ask for an honest reason but if you don't feel he is telling you the whole truth, despite repeated attempts, it is best to move on. He may have simply decided you weren't the right girl for him or he may honestly be completely scared of commitment - it's hard to say. What I do know is that honesty and communication are the basis of a strong relationship. When it comes to the next guy you date, make a concerted effort to try and read signals he may throw your way. You don't want to become a Miss Over-Analyzer but you just simply become more aware so there are no more surprise endings.
